Ray Optics, The Positive Lens, Real Image


The picture below is a ray tracing diagram that shows how a real image is formed with a positive, or converging, lens. Drag the tip of the blue arrow.

Explanation:

  • The horizontal gray line is the axis of the lens.
  • The vertical green line is the positive lens.
  • The vertical blue upward pointing arrow is the object.
  • The vertical yellow downward pointing arrow is the real image.

Where to click

This red box is imagined; it really does not show on the animation. If your mouse seems to loose its grip on the object at the edge of this box, just click obviously within the box to get things working again.
